SDME '08!
Dates: May 23 - 25, Friday through Sunday
Place: Rausch Creek Off-Road Park
Location: Joliett, Pennsylvania (northeast of Harrisburg)
SyncrodeMayo East is an annual east coast event bringing together vanagon enthusiasts to meet up, exchange information and ideas, and best of all - to play in the dirt!
The event is focused on the VW Vanagon syncro 4WD vehicle, but you are welcome to come and participate as long as A) your vehicle was made by VW or B) your vehicle is going out on the trail (4WD required!) Last year we had a jeep ride along with us and it was interesting to compare the vehicle capabilities.
Rausch Creek is a private off-road park built on a 1,700 acre tract of land previously used by coal mining companies and is now being re-purposed for off-roading. The trails are created and maintained by off-road enthusiasts and offer varied surfaces such as mud, rocks/boulders, steep climbs, and standing water. The trails are built wide with several skill levels in mind, and often you will see basically stock vehicles running side by side with extreme modified vehicles trying out a challenge on one side of the trail.
We travel as a group and decide as a group on what trails to take, and the layout of the park usually allows you to take an alternate route if your vehicle is not up to a particular trail. See the Trail Info page for more information.
See below for an events schedule and check back here as we get close to the event. You are welcome to ask questions and suggest changes at the group discussion site.
